What Grade A actually means

What Grade D actually means

There is no panel, no monitored circuit and no zonal indication, so a fault is only discovered when someone tests the alarm.

Grade is only half the answer: LD categories
Grade describes the equipment; the LD category describes where detection is placed. LD1 puts detection in all circulation areas and all rooms where a fire might start. LD2 covers circulation areas plus defined higher-risk rooms, typically kitchens, lounges and each bedroom in a shared house. LD3 covers escape routes only.
